For more than a decade, Mayra Fornos has been a recognized leader and board member of various organizations that work to provide support and resources to the disabled community and to protect the legal rights of people who have sustained serious catastrophic, life-altering injuries.

In memory of her husband, the late Ralph Fornos, RALPH'S RIDERS FOUNDATION, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to enabling individuals with spinal cord injuries and other mobility impairments, to achieve their highest level of independence, health and personal fulfillment by providing peer guidance, resource information and a supportive network within the community.

WYNGS - Project Support for Spinal Cord Injury is a non-profit organization dedicated to addressing the immediate needs of people with spinal cord injury. They provide emotional support, information and resources to ease financial burdens. Mayra Fornos has been on the Board and has chaired the Fashion in Motion fund-raising fashion show for the past ten years.

The Disability Rights Legal Center, promotes the rights of people with disabilities and the public interest and awareness of those rights by providing legal and related services. The DRLC is located on the campus of Loyola Law School in Downtown Los Angeles and works with Loyola Law students in all of its programs. Mayra Fornos is on the staff of the Educational Advocacy Project that provides pro bono legal representation to parents and students with learning diabilities.

Casa Colina rehabilitation center is a non-profit, freestanding, community-governed organization. CC provides individuals the opportunity to maximize their medical recovery and potential in an environment that recognizes their uniqueness, dignity and self-esteem. Mayra Fornos is a sponsor of the Land Meets Sea Sports Camp at Casa Colinas Rehabilitation Centers. This camp provides the opportunity for children and adults with disabilities to participate in adaptive recreational and sports activities.
